BCN Scalp contains active ingredients whose loss or deficiency can cause hair loss: dexpanthenol and biotin. It also includes other B vitamins and iron.
Dexpanthenol, a natural component of the skin and hair, is the alcoholic analog of pantothenic acid or vitamin B5 and, therefore, is provitamin B5 that is rapidly absorbed through the skin and transformed into vitamin B5. Its effectiveness is based on its great moisturizing power and good penetration into the skin. It boosts moisture levels in the stratum corneum, reducing the transepidermal loss of water, and maintains the natural smoothness and elasticity of the skin. It accelerates cell repair, rebuilds damaged tissue and promotes normal keratinization of the skin and hair. It also has a marked anti-inflammatory effect that, together with the aforementioned moisturizing power, reduces inflammation, irritation, itching of the skin and the scalp. Its mechanism of action is based on its status as a component of coenzyme A, a substance required in numerous biochemical processes and, in general, it acts as a cofactor in acetylation reactions.
Biotin is called vitamin H, vitamin B7 or vitamin B8 and is necessary for cell growth, production of fatty acids and amino acids metabolism. By accelerating lipid synthesis, it improves the function of the skin as a natural barriers. It is also a natural seborgulator, relieves the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, eczema and dry skin, helping to combat hair loss and premature capillary discoloration.
Thiamine or Vitamin B1 is an antioxidant that increases blood circulation in the skin and the scalp. This action improves the penetration of blood and fluids -and therefore of oxygen- in different skin areas and in hair follicles. Because of that thiamine prevents hair loss and promotes the growth of new hair, achieving a significant improvement of the hair, which looks glossy and shinny.
Pyridoxine or vitamin B6 has proved to decrease the formation of dihydrotes-tosterone and regulate its excess in the root of the hair and therefore limits its fall and stimulates its growth. It balances oily skins, limiting the secretion of the sebaceous glands. Combats dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. It reduces the itching and inflammation of the skin (atopic eczema).
Iron, as a fundamental component of many proteins and enzymes, has a direct effect on the hair, so that certain types of alopecia are usually corrected with an increase of iron. In addition, iron is necessary for keratin formation, the main protein component of the outer layers of skin and hair, thus affecting the healthy appearance of skin, nails and hair.
